I was looking through the bridge section of this project and noticed something missing- the data needed to track and report in-service bridges.  It is very disappointing to me (a data manager and a user of the XML format) that this project is not going the address this issue.  I am also disappointed that the money to develop “overall” transportation schema has been diverted to the GML experiment.

Paul, Currently we are focusing on the Design/Analysis aspect (and for that matter just P/S I-beams) of the bridge section because of budget contraints. We have not forgotten about the inspection portion of the bridge domain. The plan is to make the schema extensible so that other portions of the bridge domain can be added in the future (which includes bridge fabrication and inspection).

But an integral part of Analysis is inspection related data/information.  Another integral part of analysis in the fabrication information (especially for PS girders and also fabricated steel plate girders).

Would have been nice to have the inspection data and fabrication data available for analysis.  Understand that there is limited funds and needed to limit to a specific structure type but it would have been nice to address the whole process, not just a portion in the middle, for a specific structure.
